CAST HIGHLIGHT - Portfolio Advisor - There are no results for Portfolio Advisor in Highlight Portal – CAST

There is no data in the portfolio advisor section even after clicking on the "Compute" button in the page.

Solution

Make sure to click on the Compute button located at the top right corner of the page.
Check whether all the standard surveys which has values, which the default segmentation JSON file uses is filled out.
Check if the applications are meeting the default segmentation criteria.
If the applications do not fall into a default segment you need to create a custom segmentation for your specific needs
1. Check whether the segmentation JSON file is modified and the custom segmentation JSON file does not include all applications.
Check whether the criteria’s for the specific portfolio advisor is met.
1. For Portfolio Advisor for Software Maintenance the segment that is not specifically related to the software maintenance survey may not display any of the applications onboarded. The solution is to apply the software maintenance survey to all applications and if further refinement is needed then customize the segments.
2. For Portfolio Advisor for Open Source
  1. Check if the applications have an OSS score. Please refer CAST HIGHLIGHT - SCA - How to verify if any file is open source and has SCA results?
  2. Check if the applications meet the segment criteria.
    1. Check if the results fit into any of the Open Source default segmentation. The default segments are mainly for high BI applications or low OSS scoring applications which is what that is trying to be highlighted by the Portfolio Advisor for Open Source.
    2. If you want to take into account, applications having low BI and moderately high OSS scores, you can customize to create another segment,
3. For Portfolio Advisor for Technical Debt
  1. Make sure the applications you expect to see are under the qualifying criteria. Not all apps may qualify in this category.
  2. Check whether the applications have the Business Impact survey questions filled. It is expected that applications not having BI scores nor technology versions detected don't show up in the advisor.
  3. Check whether the applications were scanned with a recent version of the Code Reader so that results have AppDataDetails.csv. Please refer Technical Debt Advisor Views in CAST Highlight
If you are still not able to see any data then, please check the parameters specified in the JSON configuration file. If the onboarded applications parameters falls between the criteria set in the JSON file, then only results will be visible in the portfolio advisor page. To see the formulas for each segment in the segmentation.json file for each advisor (go into custom segmentation, then choose the portfolio advisor you are interested in and then go to the customize tab and download the current json file).

For eg

for the category "Consider Alternate Components', only those applications with a Business Intelligence score of >50 and <75 with an Open Source Safety scores of <100 will only be considered.

Users can use the original CAST-calculated recommended segments or create Custom Portfolio Segmentation. Users themselves can calculate and evaluate their segmentation criteria using a Formula Helper available in the "Customize" view. Users can also roll-back to the original CAST-calculated recommended segments. For more details about configuring the JSON file please refer Custom Portfolio Segmentation
