Sometimes campaign is found to be running for a much longer time than it is supposed to take. Result upload may remain in closing state for hours.
Details
This maybe because of several reasons. Some of the known reasons are listed below.
- If the file count exceeds 10,000
- Use the CLI based analysis which is less processor intensive or
- It is recommended to split the scan into several separate scans. Multiple scans (different folders), can be run, then output ZIPs for the same application can be uploaded . Results will be aggregated into a single application result.
- Check if the system requirements mentioned in https://doc.casthighlight.com/Getting-Started-Guide.pdf are met.
- SCA results might take a while to complete, depending on the number of third-party components.
- Check if the survey results are modified after they have been submitted which may result in the campaign to remain in the closing state for hours. Checks are built into the latest releases to avoid this issue.
-
Check if the Issue is caused by any comment related to extracted version number in frameworks.validated.csv. Workaround is to remove it.
This may result in the application to be stuck upon submission of the results and campaign to show 'Closing' status for many hours.# versions above this cause segmentation fault while importing trasfomers: https://github.com/huggingface/transformers/issues/4857
- Check if any other huge analysis is being undertaken by any other customers. Confirm in which server slowness is experienced, for eg Azure (https://cloud.casthighlight.com) or AWS server (https://rpa.casthighlight.com)
-
Check if there is a change in campaign date which makes the platform recompute all results, for the whole portfolio, all snapshots.
- Check if result pagination of dashboards for portfolios over 1,000 applications can be activated to improve performance. The result pagination can be activated by CAST on a given portfolio. However the command line must be of a version >= 5.3.56 which is compatible with the result pagination feature as it shares some API resources. Once activated, the dashboards load by default the 1,000 most recent apps. From here, the user can go to next/previous 1,000 apps or expand to the full application scope. This will make the home page load much faster.
- Remove application snapshots that are eligible for data retention policy to improve performance. Application snapshot retention status information is available for Portfolio Managers from COMPANIES > Scan Result Retention. Snapshots are listed with the corresponding status (Maintain vs. Archive). The scan retention policy is not automatically enabled for all portfolios. Depending on the number of applications and the scanning frequency of each application, portfolios are regularly checked by CAST for eligibility. If your portfolio meets these criteria, a CAST consultant will contact you and the scan retention policy will be enabled by CAST for your portfolio so that you can preview which applications will be maintained or archived. Please refer Data Retention Policy and Notifications
