CAST HIGHLIGHT - SCA - Obsolescence - What is meant by "Gap" and "Release Year / 12 month" for a component?

The lifespan details of the components in an application, can be seen in the Software Composition > Obsolescence view.

The Obsolescence tab displays each components technology, the version used, the last version, no of files etc. Along with this related to the component’s life span, the Release Year / 12 month, gap can also be seen.

Details

Gap: Gap indicates the gap between the current version of the component detected in the application and the latest known version of each corresponding component
Release Year / 12 month: shows the number of releases of that component that occur every year.

NB: Highlight automatically calculates the lifespan based on components’ release dates.

At the portfolio level, the lifespan status of components can be seen in the Software Composition dashboard, under the ‘Components’ tab.

Lifespan status is also available in the SBOM export and the API (WS2/domains/{domainId}/applications/{applicationId}/thirdparty).
