CAST HIGHLIGHT - Code Reader - Installation - Not able to install latest Code reader because of the error Failed to Install WebView2!

The setup of CAST HIGHLIGHT Code Reader was aborted, because of the error,

Error: Installing WebView2 failed with exit code -2147219631

Failed to install WebView2! The app can't run without it. Try restarting the installer.

 

 

Workaround or Action Plan

                     

  1. Check whether the pre-requisite for the tool is fulfilled in the environment. Please refer to : https://doc.casthighlight.com/codereader/readme.md   such as 600MB free disk space, open JDK 11, 8GB memory, users should have administrator privileges to run the installer etc 
  2. Check whether there is an issue installing Webviewer, check for the cause in the Event Viewer. Also, Download and install the WebView2 runtime manually from the official Microsoft WebView2 page.  This may resolve installation issues that may occur through other installers  
        1. Ensure Administrator Privileges:
          • Run the installer with administrative rights. Right-click the installer and select "Run as Administrator".
        2. Manually Install WebView2 Runtime:
          • Download the WebView2 Runtime installer directly from Microsoft's official site: Download WebView2 Runtime
          • Run the installer and follow the prompts.
        3. Check for Existing WebView2 Installation:
          • Open the Control Panel > Programs and Features.
          • Look for Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime. If it's present, uninstall it and then reinstall the latest version.
